DECISIVE MOMENT

Info
The Decisive Moment engages with the concept of time in photography. Photography is widely viewed as a means of freezing a split second in time. I disagree with this assumption. This series explores the idea of the photograph representing a series of moments in an ongoing story.

Each piece in this series was photographed on a 1967 4x5 camera. By using this camera, which had recorded hundreds of pictures before me, I join the camera's story. I become only one photographer in its long history of existence.

The images were shot on Kodalith film from 1977. The age of the film appearing on the film itself, in blooms of mould, scratches and other unforeseeable imprints of time. The film has been changing for forty years before I join the story and take the photograph.
