What is the meaning of the theme?
The exact meaning of the theme is left open to the interpretation of the artists submitting but its roughly “the everyday”.
Why do images have to be 10:9?
The finished book is designed so it can run nativley on the Gameboy handheld, the screen size of which is the deciding factor for the image size.
Do I have to submit my photos already in 8bits?
No, you can submit a normal photo and it will be converted for you but its encouraged to submit in 8bits since you will have control over how it gets converted.
Can I submit someone elses photo (family member/friend/etc)?
No, you can only submit photos you have taken yourself.
Do I have to include all the image information (image title/place and date taken/etc)
You are encouraged to but the only information you have to include is the name you want displayed as your name. If you don’t include an image title it will be called “untitled”.
Do I have to specify a colour palette?
No, if you dont specify it will default to the B/W palette.
Are there any fees?
No this is free to submit images to and the images submitted will remain the the copyright of the submitting artists nor will the final journal be sold or monetized, this is a passion project meant to freely share 8-bit images with the public.
