Info
Growing up as a young boy, my grandfather was a big figure in my life. He was a birder, and he would often take me on long walks in the woods near where we lived and teach me about the birds and plants that lived there. My grandfather imparted his love of nature to me, inspiring my lifelong love and appreciation of the natural world.

In art school, I noticed a trend towards giant “history” sized paintings. The idea being that the larger the painting, the more impressive the final work would be. I also observed that viewers would often not feel the need to get up close with a large work and observe the fine details. These two trends frustrated me and inspired me to start painting miniatures.

These paintings grew out of these influences. They are all small windows into the same woods that my grandfather and I walked many times together when I was a boy. Each painting is less than 6” on its longest side. They are tiny little jewels of sunlight and greenery, decay and life.
